⇨ I have decided something. I am not gonna complain anymore. I am not gonna whine anymore. I am not gonna be depressed over studies anymore. But can I just say something? Singapore's education system is really too strict and too suffocating. You people force kids to put so much information into their brains, in the end it all boils down to being street-smart in the future. The system is so rigid and so demanding. Some people got off the wrong foot in studies, and you banish them to lousy classes. They just do not see the point of studying. Wouldn't it be better to let them realise the point of studying, instead of casting them into "lousy" schools and classes, and causing them to lose faith in themselves and do even worse? And SOME people out there, just look at the people with talents. Hello? The minority is important too okay. A good school is not a school where elite students are kept and bad ones expelled. A good school is a school where ALL students are bred to become elite students, even if they are not so good in the first place. As years gone by, the syllabus gets harder and harder. But look, I don't see myself smarter than my brother. He graduated 4 years ago, and still knows more than me. So what makes you think by increasing the difficulty of syllabus every year, will end up with Singaporeans becoming smarter? No, It will just make them more rigid, designed to answer only exams questions. I know a person who is so smart in his/her studies, but everywhere he/she went, he/she offended everyone around. What's the point of having so much information in you, when you cannot even get along with other people, when you do not even know when other people are mad at you, when you have no idea that you are being such an idiot? And now, the wonderful education system come up with online assignments, which result in redundant problems like failure of system. Let's take me for an example. My school assigned me a Math assignment that is graded. But after giving it a thousand and one tries, I cannot even do the assignment because nothing happens, when I press the "Start Quiz" button. Now the assignment in due in 10min, I cannot even do it. So tell me, what will happen to my grades when the quiz closes? PLOP, straight F9. Thanks a lot, wonderful system. Maybe Singapore has her reasons for the education system. I do not mean to criticise it, but look at it this way, This is the education system in the students' point of view. |
