Went for Dine in the Dark today. It was a really wonderful experience. (:
Initially I thought it was just us sitting in a room and eating some snack. LOL. Turned out to be a super epic project and there were performances and stuff! The interact club members were like trained to lead us into the darkness and they know the routes and everything. It was really impressive. ^^
Starting it was quite exciting. I couldn't see anything at all, not even my hand! Shermain could see hers, so I presume I'm too black. Hahaha. We took super small deliberate steps and ducked under raffia strings that they rjc people use to feel their way to our tables. It was like entering a haunted house! For a while my imagination ran wild and I was damn scared. The fact that everyone kept emphasizing it was Friday the 13th didn't help. Haha. Then after a while it was much better.
There were performance behind the curtains so the musicians still could see their instruments. LOL. The singers all had damn awesome voices and strong vocals. It was like having a concert in the dark. Hahaha. Eating was a bit awkward because I couldn't see where the food were. I took super long to finish my food because I had to poke around to see where the food were LOL. In the end there were rice, vegetables (with a big mushroom), sweet potato, wanton, and chicken I think. Heh. There was dessert too! Chocolate cake. ^^ We had to feel around for our drinks and utensils. I think if anyone had night vision goggles and were looking at us we would be looking super ridiculous because of the way we find our stuff hahaha. My first bite of chocolate cake was bad, I couldn't aim properly and got chocolate over my mouth instead. ): Haha, but it was a really fun experience. :D
It was a bit lonely though. I only knew Shermain was beside me because we walked in together. We had people sitting opposite us and we couldn't see who they were. So I felt super isolated. It was like me-against-the-whole-world feeling. ): That moment I suddenly feel like holding someone's hand or hugging the person beside me, just to know that I'm not alone. But I didn't know the girl beside me and shermain was sleeping. LOL.
This event also showed me that.. everyone has an amazing voice. I'm serious! Throughout the whole night we could only hear what people were saying, and shermain was saying the voices match handsome faces (but she was disappointed afterwards hahaha). I got a shock when they switched on the lights and I saw the people whom voices matches theirs. It's a lot different. For example there's this guy he has a very kind and gentle voice, but he's muscular and scary-looking in real life!
I think ever too often we use our eyes to judge. Just because we have sight, we take it for granted and abuse it. I wonder if everyone is perfect-looking and good-natured to the blind people walking on the streets. If only everyone use their heart to "see" a person first, instead of being too quick to judge on first sight. The world would be a beautiful place. (:
Anyway, I realised a few things today. 1. Raffles is DAMN BIG. Hahaha. And their hostel look like chalets sia! Not like ours. ): Their school is super nice and conducive to study in. 2. There is real talent out there, like in other JCs. There was a band that really rocked the hall. People wanted to get up and dance in the dark! It was super good. (: 3. RV, damn no life. T^T People all talking about their lives, the performances, songs. I hear RVians keep talking about homework, project, test. Omg. ): 4. It's super fun to play PepsiCola123 with your eyes closed haha. You have to search for the person's thumb before you attempt to press it! ^^ & Blind people, they are the bravest people ever ; Can't wait for Dialogue in the Dark next! :D |
